BRIEF: Are chokecherries poisonous to goats?
QUESTION:
Are chokecherries poisonous to goats or other livestock?
ANSWER:
From Mark in Fort Collins, CO: We had a situation last summer where we lost 13
does in one afternoon, after a thunderstorm/hailstorm had bruised up the leaves
of a patch of fresh, young shoots of chokecherries (prunus spp.) they then
grazed and died forthwith. (They had been grazing this land for several weeks
before the storm, and for several weeks the previous summer, without problem.)
