PLEASE NOTE:
"Poisonous" does not mean deadly. Some manifestations of toxicity are subtle. The dose, as always, determines if a plant is safe source of nutrients or a toxic hazard.

BRIEF: Are oak trees poisonous to goats?

QUESTION:
Do you know if oak trees are toxis to goats in any way?

ANSWER:

Goats usually do very well brosing oaks. Some of the less digestible species may not result in optimum performance if there are no other feeds around. Cattle sometimes have a problem with the tannins present in spring buds and certain types of acorns when it is eaten as the sole feed, but I am not aware of this being a problem for goats.
