"Poisonous" does not mean deadly. Some manifestations of toxicity are subtle. The dose, as always, determines if a plant is safe source of nutrients or a toxic hazard.

BRIEF: Why is U. Dioica classified as a toxic plant?

QUESTION:
I am puzzled why U. Dioica should be classified as a toxic plant. Please could you tell me the reasons why?

ANSWER:

The American U. dioica var. gracilis stings like hell if you brush up against it, as do californica, holosericea, lyalli, serra, urens and piluifera. If there are non-stinging varieties of U. dioica in the UK, then I guess I understand the confusion.
