BRIEF: Is bougainvillea poisonous to rabbits?


QUESTION:
My rabbit just ingested some bougainvillea and I have been frantic trying to determine if this plant was poisonous/toxic.

ANSWER:
I have never seen Bouganvillia listed as a poisonous plant, nor do I know of any cases of Bouganvillia poisoning. I have lived in Kenya and California where this beautiful bush is common and never heard of any problems. On the other hand, I would not try feeding such an unknown plant to your rabbit on a regular basis.
