PLEASE NOTE:
"Poisonous" does not mean deadly. Some manifestations of toxicity are subtle. The dose, as always, determines if a plant is safe source of nutrients or a toxic hazard.

BRIEF: Is the Shamrock plant harmful to cats?

QUESTION:
If a cat eats a shamrock plant is it harmful to them?

ANSWER:

If by shamrock plant you mean a member of the Oxalis genus, then no, eating one little plant won't hurt. Animals that graze on the stuff so it makes up a major part of the diet can get in trouble because the potassium oxalate will chelate the calcium in the blood and wreck havoc on the muscles' function and the nervous system. But a leaf or two is just a sour treat for a cat.
