PLEASE NOTE:
"Poisonous" does not mean deadly. Some manifestations of toxicity are subtle. The dose, as always, determines if a plant is safe source of nutrients or a toxic hazard.

BRIEF: Is there any way to prevent your horse from eating poisonous plants?

QUESTION:
I was wondering if there are any ways to prevent your horse from eating poisonous plants?

ANSWER:

Put them completely out of the horses reach. Even well-fed horses will sample poisonous plants on occasion. If it is a yew bush, a couple of mouthfulls will kill them. If it is yellow star thistle, they may become adicted and die of brain damage. Of course, a poorly fed horse turned into an unfamiliar paddock with toxic plants present is almost certain to have a problem in a hurry.
